A large avalanche released naturally in a closed portion of the ski area today here in Gulmarg. Please read our recommendations on the board at G1, please listen to the ski patrollers at the top station when they tell you not to go into a closed area of the ski area, and please do not go around rope lines. They are set up there for your safety. No one was caught in the avalanche that released, but it ran directly over a traverse track that was created by skiers who were not listening to patrol when we told them it was closed, were going around a ropeline that closed the area, and were not following practice that we recommended today.
